The last post I wrote was the announcement of the Hyrox vlog 3 weeks ago.

If you haven't seen it yet you can find it here.

So What's Been Happening?

Why haven't I been gracing your inbox every Sunday which I've done for 2 years now.

It comes down to 2 factors:

  1. Energy
  2. Time

Both of these are interlinked and you could argue that they're two sides of the same coin.

Managing your energy is just as important as managing your time.

You need to decide who and what gets access to your energy in the same way you decide what goes into your calendar. If you know there's something that will drain you, it's worth asking yourself whether it's serving you in both the short and long term.

For me, I was feeling pretty exhausted when I was sitting down to write.

Even though I enjoy writing, getting my thoughts on the page and creating these posts I wasn't getting the same level of enjoyment I previously was.

It felt like a chore.

Which is the point I knew something had to change.

Taking a break away from writing made me realise how much I enjoy writing.

Creating deep, intricate, thought-provoking blogs is what encouraged me to start writing back in 2021 before anyone was reading.

I've deviated away from what my mission is and upon reflection I'm moving back towards that.

The Next Direction

Going forward, I'm going to loosen the framework a little bit.

It felt a bit clunky and I was beginning to repeat myself rather than evolve my thinking and writing.

Plus, I wasn't going as deep with my thoughts as I'd liked because I was keeping it in the categories of a lesson or positive outcome when a particular lesson was a positive outcome. Putting it for both was cheating a little bit.

In terms of life, I've got something big in the pipeline for July.

It requires more logistics than anything I've done before.

I've always wanted to do a big endurance test by way of time and this will be it.

Something I've Been Thinking About

One of my favourite newsletters is James Clear's 3-2-1.

The "1" is a question he asks the reader at the end.

This week it was:

Is it assumed or is it confirmed?

We often make assumptions based on previous experiences, what's been said or through anecdotes but fail to accurately check it out for ourselves.

Lots can get lost in communication through assumptions made between parties especially when one isn't great at communicating or hierarchical structures prevent you from questioning what is assumed as sound reasoning.

This is a powerful mental model to use in your own life as well.

When you go to make an assumption stop and ask yourself this question.

Because it will change the way you approach situations and is essential to altering your own way of thinking.

This Time of Year

I LOVE spring.

Cold, crisp mornings with sunshine are my favourite.

There's about this part of the year that really excites me.

Getting the early morning vitamin D with a coffee in hand is one of life's simplest pleasures.

Mentally, I get a boost waking up and it's light. I'm raring to go.

It's a sense of accomplishment knowing you've made it through the winter and summer is approaching.

There's an illusion of having more time because it's lighter for longer.

What I'm Listening To

My drive is work is roughly 35-45 mins - the perfect time to listen to podcasts/audiobooks.

This week I've been listening to Tim Ferris' Tribe of Mentors. It's "a compilation of tools, tactics, and habits from 130+ of the world's top performers". Each "mentor" is asked the same questions to reflect on.

It's almost like mini autobiographies all packed into one book.

There's been so many different mental models, ways of thinking and insights that I've taken away. It's long but each chapter is short enough to keep you interested.

As a book nerd, I'm open to suggestions (plus I have an Audible credit to use lol).
